Wildeness Hike and Ride
HIKE OR BIKE….CAN’T CHOOSE THEN DO BOTH! GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR TIME IN CHIANG MAI WITH THIS ACTION PACKED ADVENTURE.
An adventure enthusiasts dream as Trailhead Thailand takes you deep inside the national park on a hiking and biking adventure that allows you to immerse yourself in the surrounding nature on a gorgeous trek, before some adrenaline fueled mountain biking fun from a hilltribe village.
Tour Summary
This amazing hike and bike adventure starts behind the famous Doi Suthep temple with a trek that follows a narrow trail through dense old growth forest and around cascading streams. You’ll be ducking and weaving over and under vines and fallen trees and scrambling up several steep sections before emerging onto a dirt trail used by hilltribe farmers to tend to their fields. The trail is a more gradual but continual climb up towards the end point – a Hmong hilltribe village nestled in the surrounding forest at 1300m above sea level. The final part of the hike will pass through coffee plantations, strawberry fields and other crops and depending on the time of year you’ll get a chance to snack on some of the fruits.
As we reach the village we’ll stop for a basic lunch and refreshments and catch our breath before part 2 of the adventure – a 1500 descent downhill on a mountain bike!
Our fleet of full suspension bikes will easily absorb the bumps as we descend, and the disc brakes and chunky MTB tires easily keeping you in full control allowing you to absorb the amazing surroundings and views of the valley below. The trail is predominantly dual track with some tricky steep sections, smooth flowy sections and a few small climbs to tackle before reaching the lake at the end and concluding the tour.
What to Expect
The variety of trails is fun for intermediate to more experienced riders. Beginner riders can attempt this ride if they’re up for a challenge. Experience the punchy hill climbs and have a blast with fast and flowy trails with just the right amount of technical riding for a fun ride. The trek requires moderate to good physical ability as the climb is sustained over several km. The heat and humidity in the jungle will make it feel more difficult and so we only recommend this trip for those who love a challenge.
