Rural Road

Level 3/5

Our Fields of Gold rural cycling tour of Chiang Mai takes place in Mae Rim district, approx 45 minutes from Chiang Mai city.  Ride through local farms and rice fields where you can taste seasonal fruits and snacks, and learn the local lifestyle from friendly villagers.  Explore a beautiful temple, seldom visited by tourists and meander your way along a combination of quiet paved road and dirt dual track.

The best time to experience this countryside tour of Chiang Mai is between October to January, when the rice fields turn from a verdant green colour to a shimmering golden colour as it approaches harvesting time.   You will have plenty of time to take photos among the ride paddy fields and admire the beautiful Chiang Mai countryside.

The trails are seldom used and only a basic cycling ability is required to participate.  The tour is approximately 20-25km therefore a moderate level of fitness is recommended, a support vehicle will be with you most of the time should you need a break.

After the tour, enjoy a delicious lakeside lunch and a refreshing coconut, before heading back to your Chiang Mai accommodation.  There is an option to ride to a waterfall, however the climb is only recommended for riders who are physically fit, please ask your guide if you’d like to visit.
