Taking place in the mountains bordering Lampang / Chiang Mai, The Heart of Darkness enduro MTB tour takes you through remote countryside seldom visited by tourists and along epic singletrack trails used only by residents of remote mountain villages.

We begin the tour with a 90-minute drive East of Chiang Mai, driving high up in Mae Takhrai National Park to the mountainous border between Chiang Mai and Lampang provinces.  From here we ride through beautiful old growth forest at an elevation of 1000m+ along undulating smooth singletrack, following the mountain ridgeline.  Along the way you’ll have sneak peak views of Chiang Mai on the right, Lampang on the left through the forest and they’ll be amazing sections of singletrack downhill / punchy climbs for the first few km.

There will be a short hike-a-bike section to crest to the highest point on the ride at 1250m asl, before a short, steep tech downhill before the trail levels off for some amazing long sections of winding downhill fun culminating in one of the best downhill trails in Chiang Mai as we approach a remote village with no road access and quaint wooden houses.  The singletrack is fast, smooth and flowy and you’ll be grinning from ear to ear as you cruise down this section.

After the village the trail levels off and mixes some relatively long climbs with shorter descents before finishing close to the village of Mae Takhrai where we end the riding.  We can visit a unique temple and shrine after packing away before lunch and returning to the city.
