Experience all the seasons in a day during this incredible Doi Inthanon trek, a challenging 10km hike reaching an altitude of more than 2000m (6500 ft).
From Chiang Mai it’s a 2 hour drive along a curvy road passing village tribes as we wind our way to the starting point, a remote area in the National Park well off the beaten track.

จากเชียงใหม่ เราเดินทางด้วยรถยนต์ลัดเลาะเส้นทางถนนคดเคี้ยวผ่านหมู่บ้านที่อยู่ชายป่า ไต่ตามเส้นทางสูงชัน ไปยังจุดเริ่มเดินในระดับความสูงมากกว่า 2,000 เมตรจากระดับน้ำทะเล
The ascent begins through beautiful pine forest which eventually plateaus to an open grassy area with panoramic views all around. The plant life has an almost European feel about it with fern covered hills and lichen covered trees with unique flowers blooming all around. The trail continues to ascend with pockets of steep climbs and sections of flat trail.
We eventually reach the bottom of the final steep climb to the summit which appears near vertical, your efforts are rewarded however as you’re greeted with surreal views on the top with sheer cliffs and in clear weather views of the highest point in Thailand, Doi Inthanon right in front of you. There is a small stupa called Khun Wang on the summit where people go to pay their respects.
After a well-earned rest with a light lunch, refreshments and freshly brewed coffee it is time to head back down, winding along a steep trail through pine forest before emerging into royal project farms where depending on the time of year may be growing strawberries or other fruit. From here we will be picked up and taken back to the city.
เมื่อถึงจุดเริ่มต้นเดิน ก็จัดแจงเตรียมอาวุธประจำกายให้พร้อม แล้วเริ่มเดินขึ้นตามเส้นทางสันเขาไปสักการะพระบรมธาตุขุนวาง สถานที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์บนยอดเขา ที่ยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจของคนขุนวางมาช้านาน
เส้นทางที่เราเดินผ่านจะพบกับดอกไม้ป่าที่มารอต้อนรับตลอดทาง วิวภูเขาสุดลูกหูลูกตา ลูกแล้วลูกเล่า บางช่วงเป็นช่องลมโกรกจะมีหมอกพัดมาปะทะหน้าทำให้หายเหนื่อยไปได้พักหนึ่ง บางช่วงต้องไต่เขาชันแต่พอพ้นสู่ยอดเขาแล้ว วิวที่อยู่ตรงหน้าจะทำให้ลืมความชันไปได้ทันที
เมื่อเวลาล่วงมาประมาณ 2.30 ชั่วโมงตั้งแต่เริ่มออกเดินทาง เราก็ได้เห็นเงาของพระบรมธาตุขุนวางตั้งอยู่ปลายสุดของสันเขา เดินเข้าไปใกล้ๆ จะเห็นมีสิ่งของสักการะวางอยู่รอบๆ แล้วสองเข่าก็ทรุดลง พนมมือตั้งจิตอธิฐานขอพร
เมื่อถึงหมู่บ้านคุณสามารถพักผ่อนตามอัธยาศัย ถ่ายรูป เล่นน้ำ พูดคุย เดินชมหมู่บ้านกับชาวบ้านซึ่งเป็นไกด์ท้องถิ่นซึ่งจะอธิบายถึงสิ่งต่างๆ ให้คุณได้ฟัง โฮมสเตย์ที่พักจะเป็นไปในแบบเรียบง่ายปกติแบบที่ชาวบ้านอาศัยอยู่ แต่จะมีการจัดเตรียมมุ้งและที่นอนที่สะอาดให้คุณอยู่ได้อย่างสบาย อาหารเย็นแบบท้องถิ่นจะถูกปรุงโดยไกด์และชาวบ้านให้คุณได้นั่งสังสรรค์รับบรรยากาศเย็นๆ เงียบสงบที่ระเบียงบ้าน
ชะเง้อคอมองดูด้านหลังของพระบรมธาตุฯ ก็อดตะลึงกับยอดเขาที่สูงเสียดฟ้าไม่ได้ เพราะไม่เคยเห็นที่ไหนมาก่อนที่ฟากหนึ่งของเขาถูกปกคลุมไปด้วยหมอกสีขาว อีกฟากกลับเห็นเพียงแต่ยอดเขาโล้นที่มีต้นไม้แซซมบ้างประปราย แต่ไร้เงาสีขาวของหมอก ที่นี่แหละที่เรียกว่า “ผาแง่ม” หรือ “ผาสองฤดู”
นั่งพักรับประทานอาหารหน้าลานพระบรมธาตุฯ ดูวิวพาโนราม่า สูดอากาศบริสุทธิ์ให้เต็มปอด ก่อนเดินทางกลับลงมาทางสำนักสงฆ์ ผ่านไร่เกษตรบนที่สูงของของชาวบ้าน ทักทายคนท้องถิ่นแล้วเดินทางกลับสู่เชียงใหม่โดยสวัสดิภาพ

What Can I Expect?
This Doi Inthanon trek requires a high level of fitness to complete. It is approx. 8-10km in length with 1000m+ elevation gain over approximately 5-6 hours.

What to wear and bring
The weather can change several times during the hike, it may be sunny and warm one minute and pouring with rain and cold the next so bring good quality hiking shoes, full length trousers and a rain jacket. Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, wide brimmed hat, sunglasses are also recommended.

Restrictions
We have no minimum age, but participants should be in excellent physical shape and able to walk for several km over uneven terrain with some sections requiring scrambling. A head for heights is necessary as the summit is exposed with sheer drops.

Guests may own their own equipment for camping, and we welcome them to bring it along. Trailhead Thailand in partnership with TANKstore can provide a range of well-known branded equipment however due to the nature of camping trips the following equipment is not included and can be rented at additional cost.
