Nature and Culture Village Tour

Introduction:
Mae Kampong is a beautiful village nestled in a mountainous valley located at an altitude of 1300m (4260ft) just an hour from Chiang Mai city and home to lovely coffee shops, cafes, souvenir shops and surrounded by verdant rainforest. After being picked up in comfortable air-conditioned transportation, you will drive an hour east of the city close to the border between Chiang Mai and Lampang provinces, a mountainous region which forms part of the Khun Tan mountain range.

The tour starts at the village temple and our experienced guide will give an introduction to the village of Mae Kampong, its residents and the history. The tour will take you through the village, passing quaint old wooden buildings, shops and cafes where you can pick up a souvenir or 2. After the village, the tour deviates into the forest along a 2km nature trail which passes through huge trees, fig trees, coffee plantations and small babbling brooks. The terrain is uneven and quite steep in places but the pace is gentle and so limited physical fitness is required to complete the hike. The guide will explain about the flora and fauna in the region and take a rest at one of the oldest trees in the region for snacks and refreshments.

The trail loops back to the top of the village where you can stop for a coffee / cake (not included in the price of the tour) and take some photos from a wonderful vantage point. After the 3 hour tour is completed we will return to Chiang Mai and drop you off at your hotel or accommodation.
